Art Tour was a success

We had perfect weather for the "Fall Foliage Art Studio Tour" weekend. The sun was smiling upon all of us. Fifty art lovers found their way to my studio. It was fun, exciting and enjoyable interacting with the visitors. I sold two paintings, two prints and many cards.
I am enclosing two pictures of my studio and two others of budding artists who came to visit.

Inspiration overtook her - she created a small masterpiece

Pencil needs sharpening!
Getting ready for the creation of a special piece of art.
She gave it to me before departing.
 Here is the little masterpiece.
Her name was Danielle and she made it for me because
she was "Little" Danielle and I was "Big" Danielle.
This is precious!

"Red Earth"

 D.M. Le Bris Copyright 2010
SOLD

I remember Huahine, an island not far from Tahiti.
I rented a bicycle and toured the island.
I traveled for six hours - many hills made my legs suffer,
but the scenery took my breath away.
As I look from a hill's top, I discovered this incredible site of
red earth and pink sand caressed by the lagoon's turquoise water.
From memory I created this landscape
recalling the light,
the Tiare flowers' scent
and the magic of the pink sand.
I used my fingers and a palette knife to create texture.

"Spring Morning"

D.M. Le Bris Copyright 2010

This winter has been hard!
Snow, sleet, rain, severe flooding everywhere.
It is time for Spring to return and shower us with gifts of beauty!
I created "A Spring Morning"
thinking of the wonderful color palette,
a feast for the eyes,
as earth awakens from its winter sleep.
I used my fingers and a palette knife
to give the painting some texture.

"Moonset Over Medusa Lagoon"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris
SOLD

During my three-month stay in French Polynesia,
I was sailing aboard a commercial freighter
one evening from Tahiti to a smaller island.
Because there were no passenger cabins on the ship,
I slept on deck with the natives.
I spent a sleepless night but was rewarded
early the next morning by
a magnificent and remarkable moonset.
Like a mirror, the smooth sea reflected the moon
and early morning colors.
This painting represents the magic of that moment.

"Venetian Sunset"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris
SOLD

This week, I have been concentrating on painting
atmospheric landscapes.
I drew upon my memories of Venice, Italy, to create this sunset.
It is a city that captured my heart a few years back.
I hope to return there very soon.

"Treasure Cove"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

As a school girl,
I would spend some of my summer vacations
on the rugged French Brittany coast.
With my three cousins,
I would spend most of my days
on the beach or climbing the cliffs looking for small grottoes.
In these grottoes, my girl cousin and I would hide our treasures:
shells, colorful stones and sea glass,
while my boy cousins would hide theirs:
dead crabs and other odd dead creatures, old shoes,
rusted metal and old bottles.
We called our hide away "Treasure Cove."
From memory I created this painting
remembering those imaginative years.

"Viviane's Tears"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

This is my second oil pastel on paper this week.
I love the atmosphere and richness of colors that oil pastel creates.
This is an imaginary landscape.
Brittany, were I spent my summer vacations as a school girl
was the inspiration.

"Approaching Storm"

I wanted to use a different palette this time and have less fiery reds.
I was drawn to my childhood memories, as always.
I let my imagination direct me to create this painting.
