"Viviane's Tears"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

This is my second oil pastel on paper this week.
I love the atmosphere and richness of colors that oil pastel creates.
This is an imaginary landscape.
Brittany, were I spent my summer vacations as a school girl
was the inspiration.

"Approaching Storm"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

I wanted to use a different palette this time and have less fiery reds.
I was drawn to my childhood memories, as always.
I let my imagination direct me to create this painting.

This is the final step of the painting.
I decided to turn it upside down.
I like its story-telling quality better.
Some details still need to be worked on,
mostly in the red mountain shape, in the lower portion.
I find this area too transparent.
"Pompeii" seems a very appropriate title for this painting.
Please, watch the video I linked to about Pompeii.

We are leaving behind
two of my husband's metal sculptures in a snow storm.
The sculptures are offering food to our feathered friends.

"Magical City"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

Today, I thought I would post one of my miniatures.
I painted this from memory.
While walking through a bird sanctuary,
I remember enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature
and the reflections in the water.
Looking up, toward the horizon I saw a city,
a fog caressing its buildings.
Suddenly, it was transformed into a mysterious
and magical place.

Acrylic on wood.

"Mysterious Island"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

I had a desire to play with watercolor today.
Brittany is still on my mind;
memories from childhood during my summer vacations.
Many island lie off the coast of Brittany,
and when I looked out at them at twilight,
they always seemed so mysterious.
